Question of the Day...

Where is all this food and household stuff going?

Answer:

Well, I have a good bit of cabinet space that I did not have in the old house, there is a cabinet above the stairs going down to the scrapbook room, there is a cabinet in the laundry room full of laundry soap (15 bottles), a shelve in the scrapbook room with condiments, and an upright deep freezer in the laundry room, a refrigerator in the kitchen and a refrigerator in the garage, as well as a cabinet in the kids bathroom and our bathroom. Everything stays just about full. The hubby is looking to close in the area under the stairs in the scrapbook room for me to make into a pantry.

What's Going On...

You can't see them very well, but I finally got the plants that "Am I Getting Old" gave me. I don't remember the name of them, so if you would remind me that would be great. I put them along the fence line under the magnolia tree. I hope they do okay there.

The hubby got the whole house fan completely installed this week. It is nice. We have not run the A/C since it has been running. It does not cool the house, but there is a consent flow of air through the house, which makes it feel cool.

Then this is the great fun. A roof leak. We are not sure what is causing it yet. We have picked the roofer we are going to allow to fix it though, because he was the most logical about what to do. He wants to come back when it is raining to see if he can determine exactly where it is leaking from, instead of just tearing the roof off and going from there, like all the others have wanted to do.

Decorating...Painting...Again

The downstairs room, scrapbook room, is in desperate need of remodeling. But that is just not going to happen yet. We have other things we would rather do first.

So I decided to ahead an give it a coat of paint. Paint makes anything look better, right?

As you can tell, the downstairs room is the same gray that the laundry room and garage are painted. So I don't really feel like it is part of the house, although it is.

So I have the doors painted going into the laundry room, the window paint (the blue blinds have to go), and now I am working on all the holes in the walls. As you can tell from the picture with the plaster, there is a lot of holes. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I hope to see everyone tonight. I am looking forward to see you guys. Have a great day.

Open House

Okay, here is the deal. I want my friends to come see my house, experience fried bread, and help me get my Longaberger foot off the ground. Fried bread you ask. Well, it is homemade bread dough that is then fried and served with your choice of toppings. I always eat my with butter, some use sugar, Kid-O says honey and syrup is good, and I think my sister always used cinnamon sugar.
So Monday, May 11th at 6:30pm, I want all my friends to come to the house. I will send out an email as well since not all my friends read my blog. Hope to see you here.

Stay as long as you would like, and eat fried bread. Some ladies and I went out last week for dinner and I mentioned the fried bread I made for the kids. That is how this whole thought started with open house, fried bread and Longaberger.

If you would like to order a basket (free shipping until May 15th) or book a show to help me out that would be fabulous as well. I decided to start selling Longaberger to help contribute to the family. I thought it would be a great way to save for a vacation every year. So that is my goal. Plus you can always order online at www.longaberger.com/brendareeks.

So if you want to come to see the house, and eat fried bread email me for directions.

Loving the Cricut

So, the week before Spring break, I started painting the front room of the house and the hallway. I finished it up last week after we returned home. I have also been at the Cricut again. More scripture.
The scripture is on the wall above the enterway from the front room to the dining room. The Cricut does an excellent job of cutting the vinyl, especially once I figured out what I needed to do.

I am going to get Kid-O's room done once I am able to find the pink vinyl. I found the brown at Wal-mart, but they don't carry the pink and neither does Hobby Lobby. I suppose I will have to look online and order it. I need red for the boys rooms also.

Kid-O's room

I finally got it finished, Monday. It seems like I have been working on her room for way too long. The pictures don't really do it justice. It looks really cute. The hubby even likes it.

The brown is called chocolate pudding and the pink is rosewood. They are the same colors as the edge of her rug.

I finally got her name and crown on her door also. My mother in law gave me a Cricut for Christmas. Cool gift. I finally had the change to actually play with it yesterday. Kid-O's name and crown were my first accomplishments. I am going to see it I can get the vinyl in pink. Right now I just did them in cardstock.

Getting closer...

Here is the most recent picture of Little Man's bedroom. I got it painted, and his new bed quilt came in yesterday. It is corduroy, like his red curtains. I have to plug Pottery Barn kids though. The quality of their stuff is great and the colors always match. Everything in all of the kids rooms came from there, ordered at very different times, but the colors match. Makes decorating easy, a bit expensive, but easy. I still have the red stripes to do in Little Man's room also. I will get to those after I get all the rooms painted.

Kid-O's rug finally came in Monday. So I can finally get her room painted. We went yesterday and got the paint for her room, rosewood pink and chocolate pudding is the brown. These are almost the exact colors of the pink and brown polka dot area of her rug. She is excited and I am ready to get started. Hopefully today, we will see.

Almost Done...

Mini-Me has been in Tennessee since Tuesday of last week. We thought it best for him not to be here while Little Man was recovering from surgery. How do you get a two year old to understand that you can't jump on top of the four year old laying on the living room floor. Anyway, he will be back Wednesday of this week, with a surprise. The Hubby and I bought him a bed this weekend, so his room is almost done.

I still have to put the red and blue strips on the walls in his room, but otherwise it is finished. I have to thank Going Goofy though. I have never been the consignment shop type of person, but I have learn to appreciate what you just might find in one. I found this set of bunk beds in a consignment shop here in town a few weeks ago for a good price and they are really sturdy; which I love. Anyway, we got the whole set, with mattresses and bunkie boards for under $500.00. The hubby and I thought it was a great deal. Mini-Me does not need bunk beds, but we thought having the one extra bed was a good idea.

Little Man gave his airplane quilt to Mini-Me for the top bunk, so that the room looks like what their old room would have looked like. Little Man opted for a solid navy blue corduroy quilt, with solid red sheets for his room. I will take pictures and show you after the quilt comes in. Little Man and I went yesterday and picked out his sheets. He got a set of red sheets for Mini-Me too. Their rugs finally came in as well. I ordered them at the end of December; they have been on back order. Kid-O's rug should be here today, so I can get her room painted now. I will post pictures when I get it done. I think it will look really good. We are going with brown and pink this time.

I Got too it...

I told you I would try to get to uploading pictures of the scrapbook room, now that it is organized. We have been back to the doctor twice this week. Once to the ENT to have Little Man's tubes removed, which they did not remove one, because it is still slightly attached to the eardrum. Then back to the sick doctor, as we call him around here, because Little Man spiked a fever of 103.4 yesterday evening with a sore throat. The quick strep test, and flu test came back negative, but his white blood cell count is high (indicating bacterial) so they proceeded on with chest x-rays, to make sure it was not pneumonia, due to his surgery on Monday. They would not proceed if, it was pneumonia. Anyway, those came back negative also, so we are waiting on the results of the overnight strep culture.

So anyway, back to the point of this post. Ah the scrapbook room, which I have yet to use. Too busy. Imagine that. So when you walk down the stairs, the first thing you see is the old desk with the kids' computer. The hubby still has to run phone line, so they can play webkinz. You ask about the door behind the desk. Well, the answer is that is the door that used to go our to the garage, but the hubby and I closed it off and put a new hole in the wall in the laundry room. You ask Why? Well, that door was in a very bad location. You could not park both cars in the garage unless you wanted heo one vehicle next to the door to be beaten to death by the door. So we changed the way you come in and out of the house from the garage. We still have to finish out the hole, and put in a nice door, not the bi-doors into the laundry, because of the heating and cooling. That is for another time. I digress again.

To the left is the laundry room, to the right is the scrapbook room, with the weight bench, which I love because I can get back to working out. It has been years since there was no room in the old house for the weight bench.

Then on you right is the scrapbook desk area. The desk runs the length of the wall, which is really nice. About six to seven feet. I have plenty of room to work.

Hope you enjoyed the tour, with the digression at the beginning.

At it again...

Monday, I got to finish up the kid's bathroom. I put up another scripture related thing up with the remaining letters in a set that I bought. The hubby came up with this one though. Then I put up several of these little wooden frogs that I picked up at Hobby Lobby for $0.59 a piece. The matched and look good.

I will post pictures of the scrapbook room hopefully tomorrow. I got to it Monday as well, organizing, setting up, etc. It looks good now and functional.

Painting Again

I failed to take a picture of this bathroom, before I painted it, but that is okay. It was a beautiful shade of lavender, if you like purple. Anyway, it is wild artichoke now to go with the whole frog theme.

Getting There

Remember the hole. I am working on it. The hubby put in the piece, I am doing the drywall work. We will see how it turns out.

Wall Art

Remember me saying I was trying to get some scripture up on my walls. Well, I am working on it. This one is not scripture, but the points behind it are and the hubby really liked this one for our room.

This is the one that I look at every morning while I am doing my Bible study. Psalm 46:10 if you want to know where to find it.

Next, Faith, Hope, Love in the freshly painted bathroom. Give us our day our daily bread in the kitchen, and As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord in the living room. Kid-O's room will say Princess, Daughter of the Heavenly King. Little Man wants one too, but I have not decided yet. I am leaning toward the Psalm about children being a blessing; I can't think of the address right off. I'll take pictures as I get them done.

Clearance is Great...

Last Saturday, for my birthday, two friends took me to lunch, then we ventured on to Hobby Lobby to see what was on sale. We found these great crosses with the metal work behind them. I thought they would look great beside this picture. The best part, they were $15.99 on clearance for $5.44. The picture came from my grandmothers (my dad's mom) house in Florida. My parents sent her this picture from Germany, while my dad was stationed our there. Anyway, she was a heavy smoker for years, and my grandfather smoked pipes, maybe cigarettes too, I am not sure. Anyway, the frame was in horrible condition, so a $3.98 can of paint to match the crosses seems to have done the trick.

Now, any of you that knows anything about canvas paintings, I need some help. As I stated my grandparents were smokers, so there are some small tar spots on the canvas. You might be able to see them in the picture if you double click on it. Anyway, does anyone know how you might be able to clean that off of the picture?

My signature color...is not peach

I have begun the process of making this house, our house. I will be painting most of the rooms in the house. I started with the kitchen and the family room because they were this peach color.

As you can tell, I have change the kitchen to a pretty blue that the hubby and I liked and matched the curtain that we had picked out.

More peach in the family room....is now gone.

The family room is now a deep shade of green. If you look closely, you can tell that the green on the wall matches the green in the pillows perfectly. The hubby really, really likes that I am not a girlie girl. He loved the color when he got home.

A little story....

So at our old house, maybe about a year after we had been in the house, the hubby had went into the attic to run coax for the television to Kid-O's room. Anyway, he had been up there for a while getting all the work done. Well, on his last trip out of the attic with the remainder of his tools his foot slipped and his leg went right through the ceiling in the living room. Praise God he did not fall through.

Well, the story gets better, because when we moved into this house, the hubby was in the attic, placing stuff in its place. The Missinator and I were handing things up to him as we would get them from downstairs. Anyway, the Missinator had gone back downstairs for another load and I was waiting with a load for the hubby, when I heard this noise, this unmistakable noise that I had heard before. The difference was there was no bad words after the sound; there was simply the calm voice saying "Why, Why?" When the Missinator came back up, I was holding my finger over my lips telling her to be quiet, all the while, I am trying desperately not to laugh. I walked her into our bedroom and showed her the hole in the ceiling of the new house that we had own for less then 24 hours. When the hubby came down, I told him there was things we missed from our home in Mississippi, that God gave us in this house, so he did not want us to miss an thing from the old house that we might have missed. Yet again, praise God the hubby was not hurt, and that we responded appropriately this time.

So four weeks later, the hole is still in the ceiling in my bedroom. I am hoping the hubby with get it fixed this next weekend. We will see how that goes.
