Random Stuff

Today, I remembered to take a picture of the new kitchen floor. So here you go. It is a porcelain tile that is a bit darker than the carpet, but still in the neutral colors. The hubby and I think that it looks great up against the dark cabinets. We still have to nail down the quarter round and put the dishwasher and refrigerator back in place, but it is mostly done.

I also thought that I would include a picture of everything that was in this months challenge from our scrapbooking guru. As you can tell, there are four pieces of paper, rub-ons, ribbon, and dip sticks. We get all this for $5.00, and the chance to win a scrapbooking prize. I will be working on my challenge today, since it is due tonight. I will post a picture when I am done, so you can see what I did with the stuff. I don't have a idea yet, but I am sure it will come together.

Official...

Our house is on the market.

I am also in the process of laying porcelain tile in the kitchen. I will blog pictures later. Here is a picture of the kitchen. You can't see the floor, but it might give you an idea. The kitchen had the same vinyl flooring as what was in the bathrooms, so if you don't remember, just go to the remodeling label and look at those pictures.

Bathroom Update

Well, our bathroom is basically finished now. We still have to run the electrical to replace the one light with the two lights we purchased, but that is all that is left.

I still have to buy the wall plates to put around the pipes to make them look a like better. I just have not been to my favorite home store yet.

Remodeling Update Part II

Last night, the hubby helped me get the grout down. Well, let me rephase that, I put the grout down, he kept bring me my buckets of clean water to wipe the floor back down with to get it clean.

As you can tell, we went with a gray grout; some what of a medium shade of gray, we did not want it to be too light. I am going to Lowe's today to get the baseboards so the hubby can start getting those back in so hopefully we (he) can get the toilet and sinks in this weekend. The medicine cabinets will go up after the sinks, then the final touch will be the new lights. The hubby will have to do some electrical work for that to happened. Hopefully it won't take too long to get to that work. I don't know though, he has some work to do at the church.

Remodeling Update

So, I am back at it again. I got my bathroom ripped apart and starting to put it all back together again.

As you can tell, I have repainted, sand and sky. We are going to the beach look. How am I doing? Do you like the blue tile?

I have got the floor pieced in and all my pieces cut that need to be cut. I will spend today getting it glued down. I will keep you informed of how the process is going.

Remodeling Again

Well, I have started on our bathroom now. I almost forgot to take pictures yesterday. I remembered after I had the quarter round and baseboards up. I also got the vinyl flooring and glue up yesterday. I don't know that I will get anything done today. The hubby has to remove the mirror, the shelf behind the toilet, and the side splash things on the sinks, so I can do all the wall repair work first. We are trying to do it in an order in which the bathroom will be fully functioning for as much as possible.

The plan for this bathroom is to remove the big mirror, add in two really nice medicine cabinets that the hubby pick out, replace the double (cheap) sink thing with two pedestal sinks, replace the one over head light with two, one over each sink, replace the vinyl with ceramic tile, and of course repaint. The entire project was around $700.00. The medicine cabinets were the bulk of the expense ($150.00 each). I will keep you updated as the process continues.

Remodeled...

We are done with the kids bathroom. The floor is down, the toilet in, and the sink installed. The only thing left is to seal the grout and to finish the baseboards in the closet. Minor things though. Here are two pictures of the finished product.

Now we are moving on to our bathroom. Pictures to come; right before I rip up the floor.

Remodeling Update

I spent last week, pulling up the quarter round, base boards, the old vinyl floor, and scraping up the glue. I then spent the weekend, after the hubby removed the toilet and sink, fixing and repainting the walls. I still have a little more sanding to do and touch up the paint, but the bulk of it is done. Saturday, I got most of the tile laid down and cut pieces that needed to be cut. The hubby helped a bit, but I am trying to do as much of this on my own as possible. Then yesterday I picked all the fitted tiles back up and glued them down. Now is has to set for 24 - 48 hours before I grout. Then we can put the bathroom back together. It looks like we will be done by the weekend. Yeah!!!!

The color and floor

A close up of the floor. I love it!!!!

Projects to begin

The kids bathroom

So the hubby and I are about to start the remodeling process on the two bathrooms in our home. This home was new construction, that we never really wanted, but we are thankful to have a home. This house has no character, so we are going to make it our own. I thought some might like to see the process from start to finish. I will be cleaning out the closet and removing the shelves today, along with pulling up the vinyl flooring and baseboards. The hubby will be back from Chicago Thursday, so I am getting it ready for remodeling. We will be replacing the sink with a pedestal sink and the vinyl with ceramic tile, along with repainting.
